Who inspired you to make music?
I think I first really got into music listening to Pink Floyd records that my dad played. Once I realised how much I enjoyed music I bought an electric guitar and played along with the solos. From there I’ve just always tried playing any instrument I could and then got in to recording them
What is your creative process like? Do you start with lyrics? Instruments? Concept?
Usually tracks start as little pallets of information, a sound from one of the analogue synths or a rhythmical idea jotted down in midi. I must have a 1000 of these on my hard drive, the ones that stand out get turned in to full tracks. Most of them have a feeling attached for me, something I just have to get out in music form.
What do you feel is the best song you have released/written and why?
“Setting Sun” from our debut EP probably means the most to me. We worked with Nath Jackson on this track from the early stages and he helped pull some of it together with the lyrics and melodies. Plus the kick drum on this track sounds absolutely huge!
What is the best advice you’ve been given?
Probably in a musical sense it would be to save everything and never say anything is done. There’s always room to improve and that could be years down the line.
If you could be any kind of cookie, what would it be and why? (Most important question)
Gotta be double chocolate, they’re the best ones right?
How do you feel the Internet has impacted the music business?
I think on a whole the internet is a great thing for the music industry, back in its infancy sure the piracy was rife but that seems to have slowed down now and people just pay for streaming services. I think the next move is patreon and these sites where fans can directly support there favorite artists and help fund their journey.
If you could change anything about the industry, what would it be?
Probably the brick wall that is getting your tracks on to the big playlists. This is how most hits are breaking these days and from what I can tell the algorithms are just daft.
What is the most useless talent you have?
I can get my leg behind my head?
When you’re done with music, what do you want people to think when they talk about you and your work?
I think I’d just be happy if people listened to what I’ve been saying with all my music over the years.
What is your most recent project/upcoming project?
We’ve just launched our new single Skin ft. Fran Minney so pushing that and getting in to peoples ears is the current goal we’re so proud of this collaboration and it took us in some new directions we love. Skin is available now and there’s a great music video for it over on YouTube.
